Greater Changhua Offshore 1 Wind Farm will be constructed outside of Taiwan’s west coast, and Danish expertise within both wind and financing has helped to make this come true. Taiwan has great focus on wind energy in recent years and  the Danish experience with offshore wind is invaluable in this connection. Ørsted oversees the development of the wind farm whereas Siemens Gamesa will supply 75 of their SG 8.0-167 DD offshore wind turbines, each with a capacity of 8 MW and a wingspan of 167 meter. The project owners consist of Ørsted, the Canadian pension fund CDPQ and local Taiwanese investors whereas EIFO and Denmark’s Green Future Fund cover DKK 3.4 billion of the financing.
